Presentation Topic
Data Analysis, Simulation and Resilience
Description of Recorded Lecture Presentation
The lecture will discuss different digital strategies to support the virtual pre-construction activities, focusing on the key aspect of data integration from different domains such as design, planning, costs. Some modeling and simulation strategies will be presented to improve construction and site planning and reduce risks and costs during the project phases.
Description of Workshop/Tutorial Presentation
In the workshop, students will be guided through the implementation of construction simulations in the game engine Unity3D, exploiting the opportunity of an open, flexible environment to integrate BIM and dynamic prediction of on-site activities, including people, equipment, materials flows.
Learning Objectives
At the end of the presentation students will be able to:
- Understand the complexity of virtual pre-construction and the relevance of data integration strategies;
- Compare different modeling and simulation approaches to predict different phenomena of construction activities; and
- Implement a construction site simulation in a flexible, open environment such as the game engine Unity3D.
