By Air Thessaloniki
Thessaloniki is served by Thessaloniki Airport “Makedonia” (SKG), located approximately 16.5 km southeast of the city centre. The airport offers connections to many major European cities and international destinations.
- Flights: Airlines including Aegean Airlines, Ryanair, easyJet, Lufthansa, British Airways and others operate services to Thessaloniki. We recommend booking early for the best options.
- Airport to City Centre: Public bus lines connect the airport with the city centre, the New Railway Station and the KTEL Macedonia Bus Station. Connections to the Thessaloniki Metro are also available via transfer stations. Taxis are available directly outside the terminal.
By Train Thessaloniki
Thessaloniki is connected to the Greek railway network, providing a convenient option for attendees travelling from other parts of Greece. The Thessaloniki Railway Station (New Railway Station) is the city’s main railway hub.
- From Athens: Hellenic Train operates services between Athens and Thessaloniki along Greece’s main north–south railway corridor.
- Regional Connections: Rail services also connect Thessaloniki with destinations such as Larissa, Katerini, Edessa and Florina.

By Bus Thessaloniki
Thessaloniki has an extensive intercity bus network connecting the city with destinations throughout Greece. The KTEL Macedonia Intercity Bus Station is the main terminal for many long-distance routes and provides access to numerous cities and regions across the country.
Local public transport connections are available between the bus station, city centre, railway station and Thessaloniki Airport.
By Car Thessaloniki
Travelling to Thessaloniki by car is convenient thanks to its connections with Greece’s major motorway network. The Egnatia Odos (E90) provides east–west access across northern Greece, while the A1/E75 motorway connects Thessaloniki with Athens and destinations to the north.
Parking in the city centre can be limited, so visitors may wish to use hotel parking, municipal car parks or private parking garages.
