Defining a Blockchain-Verified Specimen Passport for 3DCP Standardisation

Abstract: Building on the concept of digital threads in manufacturing, we introduce a blockchain-verified 3DPC specimen passport serving as an unforgeable digital ID, adding traceability and trust to 3DCP. The passport utilises a decentralised ledger and smart contracts to cryptographically anchor a lifecycle data record, creating an immutable, auditable chain of custody from digital design to 3DPC grade. By implementing the tamper-proof logging of process parameters, sensor data, and final grade, this work aims to address one of the core challenges of 3DCP standardisation. The specimen passport is a tool for compliance and data-driven certification, fostering the industrial adoption of 3DCP.
