Abstract: This study analyzes FEMA flood insurance claims and Zillow housing data in Detroit, United States, using ZIPcode-level metrics and damage-based quartiles to identify neighborhood-scale spatial patterns. Results show statistically significant differences in housing price and claim frequency across damage quartiles, with higherdamage ZIP codes characterized by lower housing values and more frequent flood claims. Housing characteristics showed moderate correlations with flood damage but were insufficient preditors in regression models. By jointly examining flood damage and housing characteristics at the neighborhood scale, this study advances understanding of residential flood vulnerability and provides evidence to support more informed planning and mitigation efforts.
