Abstract: Construction contract administration (CCA) is key to construction projects. Ineffective CCA is at the root cause of many of the industry’s disputes. Blockchain may offer necessary features for improving CCA. However, no review of blockchain’s potential against all functions of CCA exists. This study adopts a systematic review of relevant work, which is classified using a multifunctional approach to CCA. The findings reveal that existing research has focused on financial management whilst disregarding practice-based challenges. The study informs contracts policymakers and practitioners by showing how blockchain may revolutionise CCA, and establishes future research directions for researchers.
