Abstract: The implementation rate of Building Information Modeling (BIM) in the construction industry remains low, especially in Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs). Hence, many institutions offer BIM courses for further education focusing on civil engineering and architecture. However, professional on-the-job training for mechanical, electrical and plumbing (MEP) systems is rare. Therefore, a didactic concept is developed in the research project BIM4WARD based on the T-shaped model to train SMEs in simulation and BIM. The project aims to highlight the benefits and strategies of BIM applications in different project lifecycle phases by real use cases to establish knowledge transfer and digital skills.
