Abstract: Carbon trading is a system that aims to reduce the amount of greenhouse gases emitted by firms, especially those burning fossil fuels. Carbon trading systems were originally not designed for the construction industry and has little application in the construction sectors. The overall aim of this ongoing study is to develop a construction tailored carbon trading system. However, this paper presents on the initial stage which is to identify the major components for developing the carbon trading system. The four major components were market, strategies, plan, and policies. This study contributes to the construction industry’s climate change mitigation.
