Early Design Stage Multi-Objective Optimization for Thermal Refurbishment of Buildings: a Case in Istanbul
DOI: 10.35490/EC3.2024.254
Abstract: To improve the energy efficiency of the large existing building stock, there is a need for decision-support to determine optimal solutions considering different objectives. In the study, it is aimed to find appropriate optimization methods through their hyperparameter optimization that will support designers at the early design stage of a building refurbishment project for environmental and economic sustainability. For this, NSGA-II, NSGA-III, C-TAEA, RVEA were investigated with a case study on residential buildings. The first three methods were observed to give limited renewal proposals, while RVEA provided diversified renovation scenarios with its models’ features open to preference related to this.
