Automated thermal comfort monitoring using IoT technologies
DOI: 10.35490/EC3.2023.195
Abstract: Thermal comfort is typically assessed through manual surveys completed by building occupants or through sensor data that is analyzed using mathematical models. Automating the manual surveys and the analysis of the sensor data may reduce the risk of information loss, while entailing more accurate and complete thermal comfort assessment. This paper presents the design and implementation of a thermal comfort monitoring system that uses Internet of Things technologies to automatically collect data for thermal comfort assessment. For validation, thermal comfort indexes are computed and compared with subjectively perceived thermal comfort sensations of building occupants, provided through a digital survey.
