Abstract: Smart cities are comprised of various interacting infrastructure systems with a heterogeneous environment that causes critical challenges in data sharing, exchange, and integration of infrastructure components. The complicated structure of the infrastructure models and their relationships hinder seamless interactions between the systems. This paper proposes an interrelationship-based model view definition approach using an urban-level ontology that facilitates consistent data interoperability at the urban scale. The study includes the modularization of each infrastructure data based on its functionalities and the development of an ontological structure for a smart city that supports defining underlying connections between different functions of the infrastructure systems.
