Abstract: The Level of Information Need introduced in ISO 19650 gained a standardized machine-readable data model with the LOINxml (ISO 7817-3). This paper presents the normative context of this standard with a short outline of the specification process of the LOINxml data model. Through systematic analysis of schema elements and design decisions, this work demonstrates how LOINxml enables structured, transaction-based requirement specifications supporting alphanumerical, documentation, and geometrical information across project lifecycles. The contribution establishes LOINxml as foundational infrastructure for digital information requirements while identifying threshold conditions and future research directions essential for industry implementation.
