Towards a Multi-Domain Semantic Architecture for Graph-Based Orchestration of Decentralised Additive Manufacturing

Abstract: Construction-scale additive manufacturing (AM) is often executed in decentralised, multi-actor project environments, where production information is distributed across heterogeneous systems. This fragmentation hinders automation, coordination, and life-cycle traceability. This paper proposes a multi-domain semantic system architecture to support graph-based integration and orchestration of decentralised AM workflows. The architecture separates system topology, functional service interfaces, information requirements, and runtime provenance. Using a concrete 3D printing use case, the approach demonstrates how modular software components can be integrated through a shared digital-twin interface while maintaining end-to-end traceability of generated and consumed artefacts.
