Abstract: Smart buildings utilize real-time and historical sensor data to deploy data-driven application. Unlike Building Management Systems, where the data formats are somewhat aligned with industry standards, IoT is more flexible and less standardized. When multiple IoT solutions are present, they often use different methods to format the messages and represent metadata, hindering the effective usage of IoT data in smart building applications. This study proposes a framework and its software implementation for acquiring and managing real-time data using a microservices-based system architecture. To create a standardized semantic information model, the proposed framework employs smart building ontologies.
